Franziskaner Suites #6 Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Franziskaner Suites #6 feels like discovering a well-kept secret tucked away on one of Graz’s most charming cobblestone streets. The building itself has that authentic Austrian character — you know, the kind where you can almost feel the history in the walls. It’s not trying to be flashy or over-the-top, which I actually appreciate. This three-star property manages to strike that sweet spot between comfort and authenticity that’s honestly pretty rare in city centers. The attention to detail throughout the property reflects a genuine commitment to guest satisfaction.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s the thing about Franziskanergasse — it’s literally in the heart of everything, but somehow still feels peaceful. You’re maybe a two-minute walk from Hauptplatz, and the famous Schlossberg is right there when you want those Instagram-worthy views of the city. What I love is that you can grab morning coffee from the local bakeries before the tourist crowds arrive. The street itself is narrow and pedestrian-friendly, so you’re not dealing with traffic noise. Couples seem to get this location thing figured out pretty quickly — there’s something romantic about wandering these medieval streets together. The proximity to public transport makes exploring further afield equally convenient.
The Suite Experience
The room setup here is what makes this place special, honestly. These aren’t your typical cramped hotel rooms — you get actual living space to spread out. The furnishings lean traditional Austrian without feeling like a museum, and there’s enough storage that you can actually unpack for longer stays. Windows face the quiet courtyard side mostly, which means you sleep well even in the city center. The bathrooms are modern enough (thank goodness), and everything feels clean and well-maintained without being sterile. Each suite is thoughtfully designed to maximize comfort and functionality.
Neighborhood Discoveries
What you’ll discover staying here is that this little corner of Graz has its own rhythm. There’s a fantastic wine bar just around the corner that locals actually frequent — not just tourists. The morning market at Kaiser-Josef-Platz is a short walk, and you can pick up fresh produce and local specialties. I mean, you’re also close enough to all the major sights that you can easily walk to the Kunsthaus or the cathedral, but far enough from the main tourist drag that you feel like you’re experiencing real Graz life. The surrounding area offers authentic dining and shopping experiences that reflect local culture.
Why Guests Keep Coming Back
The combination of space, location, and that authentic Austrian atmosphere is what really works here. You’re getting genuine value — not just a place to sleep, but a proper base for exploring the city. The fact that couples rate the location so highly tells you something about the romantic appeal of this area. It’s the kind of place where you can imagine staying for a week and actually feeling like you live in Graz, rather than just visiting it. The welcoming atmosphere and personal touches make every stay memorable and worthwhile.
Graz hotels keep gourmands close to farmers markets, pumpkin seed oil tastings, and tram-strewn boulevards.

I really loved itFiona from Ireland (9/10)
Lovely studio apartment, just steps away from the main plaza, river walks, shopping, restaurants etc. I appreciated that there was coffee provided not just the coffee maker. Everything there for a comfortable and welcoming stay. Host was very accommodating and let me leave my luggage, again much appreciated. I would happily stay here again.

Fantastic location! In the heart of the city center, this apartment is perfect for single travelers and short stays. It has everything you need, I just missed a tray for the oven to heat up some leftover pizza 😅
Hosts Franz and Evil are super friendly and helpful! I wanted to stay another night and they found a solution in a few minutes. Thank you!Hilary from Australia (8/10)
