The entrance has this understated elegance that whispers rather than shouts, which I actually prefer in a five-star property.

Location & Neighborhood

You know what’s brilliant about this spot? You’re literally in the heart of everything, but it doesn’t feel chaotic. The Schlossberg (that’s the castle hill) is right there — I mean, you can practically touch it from some windows. The old town spreads out around you with all those UNESCO World Heritage sites just a few minutes’ walk away. Couples absolutely love it here, and I can see why — there’s something romantic about strolling along the Mur River at sunset, then coming back to your hotel without any fuss. The fact that they have private parking is actually a huge deal in this part of town, trust me on that one.

The Room Experience

The rooms here strike that perfect balance between classic Austrian charm and modern comfort. You’ll find thoughtful touches everywhere — good lighting for actually reading, proper blackout curtains, and bathrooms that make sense. What impressed me most was the attention to detail in the furnishings; everything feels intentional rather than just thrown together. The views vary depending on which room you get, but honestly, even the courtyard-facing ones have their charm. The soundproofing is excellent too, which matters when you’re in the city center.

Breakfast & Dining

The breakfast setup here is genuinely impressive — they’ve got continental options, but also proper vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free choices that don’t feel like afterthoughts. It’s buffet-style, but the quality is more like what you’d expect from à la carte service. I particularly appreciated that they source locally when possible, and you can taste the difference in the bread and pastries. The dining area has these lovely views over the river, making morning coffee feel like a proper event rather than just fuel for the day.

There’s something telling about the fact that this place has more repeat guests than most other properties — people don’t usually return to hotels unless they’re doing something right.   Historic building beautifully renovated, filled with art. Spacious room with vintage furniture. Very quiet, very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was really good. Very central location. Very clean. Chocolates near the bed and living flowers in the bathroom. Had a very pleasant stay!

  Location is great, stairs and lift to the Schlossberg are in 1 minute reach, inner city ca. 5 minutes per foot.

  The staff was friendly and polite, very helpful at all times. We ended up in the hotel on Christmas Eve, and thankfully the restaurant was working, while the whole city was closed.

  It was a lovely place with Austrian architecture, easily accessible by Taxi, Tram, waking and close to the city center. The Breakfast was fantastic with wide variety of selection. Altogether we stayed five nights.
