Hotel Mercure Graz City Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Hotel Mercure Graz City, you immediately get that feeling of “okay, this works.” It’s not trying to be something it isn’t — just a solid four-star hotel that knows exactly what it’s doing. The lobby has that clean, modern Mercure vibe without being sterile, and honestly, the staff seem genuinely happy to see you. I mean, when you’ve got more repeat guests than most other properties in Graz, you’re clearly doing something right.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s the thing about Lendplatz — it’s actually one of the best spots to stay in the city, and locals will tell you the same. You’re in the Lend district, which feels more authentic than some of the touristy areas, but you can still walk to the old town in about 15 minutes. The couples who stay here absolutely love it (they rate the location 9.3, which is pretty impressive), and I get why. There are great little cafes around the corner, the tram connections are excellent, and you’re close enough to everything without being in the middle of tourist chaos. The neighborhood truly captures the essence of modern Austrian hospitality.
The Room Experience
The rooms are what you’d expect from Mercure — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed without any unnecessary frills. The beds are actually really good (I’m picky about this), and the room layout makes sense, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many hotels mess this up. The bathrooms are modern and well-lit, perfect for getting ready to explore the city. What I really appreciate is that everything works — the Wi-Fi is solid, the air conditioning does its job, and the blackout curtains actually block out light.
Breakfast & Dining
The breakfast buffet here is honestly better than it needs to be. They’ve got the continental basics covered, but they also do vegetarian and gluten-free options really well — not just as an afterthought. The coffee is proper Austrian coffee (thank goodness), and they usually have some local touches that make it feel less generic. You know what I love? They actually seem to care about keeping everything fresh and well-stocked, even later in the morning when some hotels start to slack off. The restaurant staff are attentive and professional throughout service.
Why Guests Keep Coming Back
There’s something to be said for a hotel that just gets the fundamentals right, and that’s exactly what this place does. The parking situation is sorted (which is huge in Graz), the location score of 9.3 speaks for itself, and the fact that so many people return tells you everything you need to know. It’s not flashy, but it’s reliable, comfortable, and perfectly positioned for exploring one of Austria’s most underrated cities. Sometimes that’s exactly what you want.

We had to cancel our stay with such short notice that we were not elegible for refund. The hotel offered a room for no extra charge at a later date, which we appriciated recently.

+ Breakfast buffet was high quality with plenty of choicesSen from Bosnia and Herzegovina (8/10)
The hotel is located in the center of Graz, just about a 10-minute walk to the main square. There’s a public garage beneath the hotel with an elevator that leads directly to the reception and rooms and parking is charged separately. The rooms are quite nice and reasonably spacious.

The location of the hotel is excellent and a short walking distance to all of the sites and shopping in the old town quadrant. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. And finally the parking garage in this area of Graz is super.
