Eichbachgasse 38 Overview
First Impressions
When I first pulled up to Eichbachgasse 38, I’ll be honest — I wasn’t expecting much from what looks like a converted residential building. But you know what? Sometimes the best finds are hiding in plain sight. This three-star property sits quietly in the Liebenau district of Graz, and while it might not have a flashy lobby or doorman, there’s something genuinely welcoming about the place. The fact that there’s free parking right on-site immediately put me at ease — anyone who’s tried to park in European city centers knows this is basically gold.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s where this place really shines, and the numbers back it up. Couples consistently rate the location a 9.4, and after spending time here, I get why. You’re in Liebenau, which means you’re close enough to Graz’s historic center without dealing with the tourist crowds and narrow medieval streets. The tram connections are actually pretty solid — I could get to the Hauptplatz in about 15 minutes. What I really appreciated was being near local cafés and shops where you’ll hear more German than English, which honestly gives you a better feel for real Austrian life.
The Room Experience
My room was simple but thoughtfully put together — clean lines, decent-sized windows, and everything you actually need without unnecessary frills. The bed was comfortable enough that I slept well, and the bathroom, while compact, had good water pressure (trust me, this matters after a day of walking around Graz’s hills). Storage space was adequate, though if you’re the type who brings three suitcases, you might feel a bit cramped. The Wi-Fi worked reliably, which is more than I can say for some pricier places I’ve stayed.
Practical Perks
Beyond the free parking — which I can’t stress enough how valuable this is — the property just handles the basics really well. Check-in was straightforward, and the staff seemed genuinely helpful rather than just going through the motions. The building itself is quiet, probably because it’s more residential than hotel-heavy area. I mean, you’re not getting a concierge or room service, but for a three-star place, they’ve focused on doing the essentials right rather than trying to be something they’re not.
Why Guests Keep Coming Back
With an 8.2 overall rating and that impressive 8.8 for location from recent guests, this place has clearly figured out its sweet spot. It’s perfect for travelers who want a reliable base without paying for amenities they won’t use. The combination of easy parking, solid transport links, and that authentic neighborhood feel makes it especially appealing for couples looking to explore Graz at their own pace. You’re getting honest value here — nothing fancy, but everything you need done well.
Locals suggest to book apartments in Graz around Gries for indie galleries, riverside benches, and late-night street food.
